Officials from Laos and the Republic of Korea have vowed to enhance the friendship between the two nations.
Members of the Lao-Korea Friendship Association and the corresponding Korea-Lao Friendship Association congregated at the fifth General Meeting of the two bodies, held in Vientiane on Wednesday.
The two sides affirmed how much they each valued the activities they had conducted over the past year that have enabled the sharing of experiences and the building of mutual understanding.
Lao-Korea Friendship Association (the Lao delegation) President, Mr Thongsavath Praseuth, praised the efforts of the Korean group for boosting development assistance from the Korean government.
President of the Korean group, Mr Oh Myung-hwan, said he wanted Korea to be the foreign country with which Laos had the closest cooperative relationship.
The majority of Korean assistance to Laos has gone to the health and education sectors.
The two associations discussed future cooperation on education, with a focus on improving the two nations' standings with the United Nations' International Standard Classification of Education.
